Muy Guapo

Please do not be fooled by this post...this is not a celebrity blog. I just want to write a little about my current actor crush- Gael Garcia Bernal. He is 2 of the things I would never date; short and Mexican. I usually am not attracted to Mexican/Hispanic guys. This is likely because my dad is Mexican. Erik has the same thing with Asian girls since his mom is Asian so it can't be that uncommon. Gael is also waaaay short - 5' 6" according to imdb.com. Even though I am barely 5' 1 1/2", I am really only attracted to guys who are at least 5'10". Despite both of these strikes against him, I would totally go out on a date with Gael if he ever asked. He wouldn't have to worry because I almost always wear flats. I would probably be super embarrassed the whole time because I can hardly speak any Spanish (thanks, Dad!). I would also have the hotel scene from the beginning of La Mala Educacion in my head the whole time and be giggling non-stop. Other gals I know are also fans of Diego Luna, GGB's BFF. I have to say that he doesn't do it for me. He reminds me of a Hispanic Max from Doogie Howser, MD. Not like that is a bad thing, it's just not my thing. So in order to impress my future boyfriend, I'd like to say, Gael, estas muy caliente!

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!

I paid $9 dollars to go to the Home and Garden Show only to spend more money on gadets you see on TV. Actually, my mom bought me the lint remover and the one-touch can opener but I still spent $5 dollars on natural soap. I also got the Grill-it for my apartment. Apparently, it puts the George Foreman grill to shame. At least I wasn't stupid enough to pay $50-$100 on pages torn out from old antique books (I was pretty close though). I only took pictures of the displays because it is my dream to live in the woods like Snow White or in the Secret Garden like Mary (1993 film version). I'm a dork. Deal with it.

Saving My Spare Change

We played the Ottobar Tuesday night. They have a photobooth. I decided that I am buying one. They only cost $9,000. A new car is overrated anyways.

Also, yesterday a 12 year girl old said I look like Brooke from Cycle 7 of Top Model. This is the nicest compliment I have received probably in my whole life.

Pre/Post Valentine's Day Contest!

That's right! I'm holding a contest in honor of Valentine's Day. Once again, I am sans valentine but I love making packages for people. My readership has increased recently and I'd like to give back to my readers, my true valentines. So here is the contest. You can either:

  1. Draw me a picture

  2. Write me a short story (and I mean short...I still have to finish Life of Pi)

  3. Send a photo

All entries must be Valentine's Day related. The winner will receive a mixed CD or tape (your choice), one of my child-like drawings, and candy. Please email all entries to: lamermer@gmail.com

Contest ends Friday night. Good luck and keep my mail box full!!!

My Humble Abode

Every Monday through Friday, this is where I sit. I love it so much I even have a mat in case I want to sleep here overnight. I have only sat in this cubicle for about a month but it already feels like home. The natural light under the shelf provides me with much needed serotonin but almost killed my beloved plants - everything in life is a trade off. I am also hidden from everyone so I just talk on Google talk all day (it increases my productivity, I swear).

What Would Frank Lloyd Wright Say?

Probably "Thanks for the free booze, Target!" That's right. Target is one of the Millennium Stage sponsors and in addition to the free champagne, they also provided assorted chocolate drinks, candy (and a lot of it) and 2 chocolate fountains! It was like Willy Wonka's chocolate factory in red light with lots of red sparkles and ushers in red blazers instead of Oompa Loompas. A dream come true! Also, it goes without saying that Sufjan Stevens is a genius and looked as handsome as ever in a suit and cheap tie. Might I add the whole night at the Kennedy Center was free...except for the parking which was a hefty $15. But I gotta be honest - I would have paid $15 just to have another bite of that delicious rock candy.

Wii and Mii

I am currently the (proud) babysitter of a Nintendo Wii. I will never step foot in a gym again.

The List

Here is a list of somethings I hate:
  1. Slow internet

  2. Formatting buttons

  3. Drivers in the snow

  4. Cute boys

  5. The noise my aparment makes

  6. Trying to find parking (anywhere)

  7. Going to shows

Yes, I hate going to shows. I know this may come as a shock since I play at shows all the time but unless Karmella's Game is playing at the show, I will hate it. I love them and you should too. Please support them. I am wishing really hard everynight that we go on tour again so KTO, Mandy and I can sing a that dog song. Wouldn't that be sweet?
